WiMAX Development in Asia November 3-9

- Indian mobile network operator Tata Teleservices and high-capacity wireless backhaul solution provider Ceragon Networks have signed a long-term agreement, whereby Ceragon will provide Tata with its WiMAX backhaul FibeAir solutions, including Ceragon's next-generation FibeAir IP-10 system, according to a TMCnet report. Further financial details regarding the details have not yet been disclosed.

- ChinaTel Group and Israeli Runcom Technologies announced on November 5 that they have reached a strategic framework agreement, according to a press release by ChinaTel. As per the agreement, Runcom will be the main WiMAX equipment provider for ChinaTel's worldwide WiMAX deployment. Moreover, Runcom will make a US$100 million investment in ChinaTel for a 28.6% interest in the company.

An initial deployment demonstration based of Runcom's proprietary technology is slated for completion by December 1, upon which ChinaTel expects to place an order for Runcom equipment to be used in its deployment project.
